Mission Statement
A healthy body begets a healthy mind.
‘Why’ Dump the Junk®
We believe Dump the Junk® will fill a huge void that exists in the schools today, due to over crowded schools, less than nutritious meals and lack of programs that specifically educate the students in nutrition, exercise and attitude.
As a national health problem in schools across America today, students are facing premature health issues such as childhood obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, etc. which correlates to poor school attendance, poor classroom behavior, poor grades and under academic achievement.
Description of the Nutrition Education Program
Dump the Junk® "Whole Health” Curriculum consists of three major components of education: nutrition, exercise/physical activity programs and attitude lessons for character building and developing a positive attitude. The DTJ curriculum is targeted for age appropriation starting from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade.
Learning Objectives for Students
The primary objective for the student(s) is to establish a solid foundation through education and practical application of basic nutrition and regular exercise so to be properly equipped to avoid the health issues they prematurely face.
In addition, students are given attitude lessons for character building, making wiser choices, learning to respect others and how to believe in themselves. Through repetitious classroom lessons the student(s) will develop empowered minds for better academics and adult citizenship.
The ultimate objective is to provide the student(s) with the tools that will produce maximum academic fitness by addressing the ‘whole-child’.
